Annual Horry/Georgetown High Schools Juried Art Exhibition
Various
Artists and Media
Apr. 11 – May 4,
2008 Opening reception: Friday, Apr 11, 2008,
4:30-6:30pm
Sponsored by First Federal
Bank, the ninth annual two-countywide high schools' juried exhibit
is featured in the upstairs galleries. This opportunity for area
students to submit their works to professional judges for possible
selection in an art museum exhibition fosters a number of admirable
goals. These are to:
- promote high school student art locally
- promote self-esteem among area students
- demonstrate to students one way artists earn money through
their art
- promote professionalism in student artists
- promote the Art Museum within the schools and community.
Works will be juried
into the exhibition and cash awards given. As is always the case
with student art, it's a show that brings in lots of families
and friends!
Thirteen area high-school
artists received cash prizes and one received a $3,000 college
scholarship. The 79 pieces of student artwork, chosen for
display from 312 entries, will remain on view at the Museum through
May 4.
