Annual Spring Tour of Homes Area residents and visitors get to tour an eclectic assortment of six Myrtle Beach homes – including those of several custom home builders and artisans – in the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum's Annual Spring Tour of Homes. The Home Tour is the major fund raiser of the year for the Art Museum. As always, the tour will offer lots of eye-popping design details, some of which are sure to provide inspiration for visitors' own home décor. This year's six tour homes are guaranteed to provide a full day of “oohs” and “aahs.” The Buchanan home, 5104 N. Ocean Boulevard, Myrtle Beach. Built in 1989 and recently remodeled, this 6,000-plus square foot oceanfront home is reminiscent of a Moorish palace with its walled courtyard, tile roofs and two luxurious pools. Inside are polished oak and mahogany floors, five bedrooms, five and one-half baths (to accommodate visiting kids and grandkids), plenty of spacious lounge areas – and closet space to die for. The Callihan home, 307 Ocean View Drive, Briarcliffe Acres. Built in 1996 by homebuilder James Callihan, this spacious French country-style home was completely redecorated by Knotting Hill Interiors in 2007. Its 4,189 square foot interior includes four bedrooms and four baths, and huge floor-to-ceiling windows that draw the eye to the inviting pool/patio area at rear. But don't miss the lavish master bedroom suite with luxurious bathroom. The Hughes home, 7545 Ventura Court, Siena Park at Grande Dunes. This comfy, cozy five-year-old Mediterranean style home features two bedrooms plus office/library and is decorated in an eclectic blend of new and antique furnishings, lots of original art and collectibles, lush plants and animal-print rugs and upholstery. Its just-over-2,000-square-foot interior is loaded with comfort and quirky charm. The Marino home, 412 Pinecrest Drive, The Dunes Club. Homebuilder Patrick Marino's down-to-the-studs remodel in 2007 turned a plain-Jane 1980s stucco cottage into a 3,500-square-foot Italianate villa with dramatic entrance, open plan and lots of natural light. The home is loaded with comfy places to lounge – from the pool with marble deck, Jacuzzi and fountains to the man-sized living room with leather sofas, custom bar wall and 73” flat-screen TV! The Sadlemire home, 3048 Marsh Island Drive, The Bluffs on the Waterway. This Mediterranean-style home is a showplace for artist Robert Sadlemire's unique and often monumental sculptures. Among the many one-of-a-kind pieces scattered throughout the home are an eye-popping aluminum staircase that dominates the entry area and a massive granite-topped island with aluminum base in the kitchen. But don't miss the “rain forest” bath in the master suite, complete with both indoor and outdoor showers. The White home, 7643 Triana Court, Siena Park at Grande Dunes. Designed and built by the homeowners (themselves custom homebuilders), this two-year-old Mediterranean style home has 4,100 square feet, four bedrooms, three and one-half baths and a three-car garage plus a spacious screened porch room with beamed ceiling and stone fireplace that overlooks pool and patio. Inside, don't miss the owner's tin-ceilinged office with trophy heads; master suite with coffered cypress ceilings and handpainted tiles in the bath; and the custom built, ground-floor wine “cellar.” Home Tour tickets can be purchased at the Museum, 3100 S. Ocean Blvd., or by credit card at 843-238-2510. They may also be purchased at the following locations: Myrtle Beach: B. Graham Interiors, 5001 N. Kings Hwy., and Four Seasons Interiors, 7730 N. Kings Hwy. North Myrtle Beach: Hope Taylor & Company, 312 Main St. Conway: Bodega, 301 Main St. Pawleys Island: Cheryl Newby Gallery, The Shops at Oak Lea. Calabash: Sunset River Marketplace, 10283 Beach Dr. Besides a feast for the eyes, the day offers a feast for the taste buds as well, with a lunch buffet at the Cabana at the Grande Dunes Ocean Club, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets for the luncheon, for tour ticketholders only, are $15 per person. Reservations are suggested but not required; call the Art Museum, 843-238-2510, to reserve. Sponsors for this year's tour are Bobby Kelly State Farm Insurance, First Home Mortgage and DocuSystems.
