Jerome Harste is a Distinguished Professor of Language and Literacy at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, and a strong advocate of the arts as an integral component of what it means to be literate in the 21st century. Since his retirement in 2006, he has taken up art and earned Signature Status in the Indiana Watercolor Society, the Missouri Watercolor Society and the Bloomington Watercolor Society. He is a children’s book author as well as the co-author of on several books for teachers and on reading, writing, and using art critically in the classroom.
