Allison Fanelli

Born in the vibrant city of Philadelphia, artist Allison Fanelli spent her formative years in the tranquil suburbs nearby. Even in early childhood, she felt an irresistible pull towards the world of art, a passion perhaps kindled by her family’s artistic connections—her uncle, Robert Crindland, and her paternal grandmother, Georgianna Chilton, both of whom nurtured her early inclinations. Despite pursuing an education in nursing, earning her BSN in 1985, Fanelli never strayed far from her artistic pursuits, seamlessly weaving creativity into her life throughout the years.

As a dedicated RN, Fanelli’s career allowed her to interact with individuals from all walks of life, cultivating a deep sense of empathy and understanding that later infused her artwork. It wasn’t until she relocated to the Carolinas in 2020, entering semi-retirement, that she could fully immerse herself in art. The coastal beauty of her new surroundings became a profound source of inspiration, with the majestic interplay of sun and sea captivating her imagination and providing the thematic backbone of her work.

Fanelli’s artistic journey is characterized by a dynamic and exploratory creative process. Though primarily self-taught, she drew inspiration from trailblazing female artists, developing a technique that is uniquely her own. Her works, often praised as unique and thought-provoking, convey an individual style that speaks to her deeply held belief in art’s power to shape and broaden societal viewpoints.

In addition to creating art, Fanelli is an active member of the artistic community, serving on the Board of the Brunswick Arts Council and holding memberships in the Waterway Art Association, Wilmington Art Association, Franklin Square Gallery, and Oak Island Art Guild. Her works have been exhibited in respected venues such as the Sunset River Gallery, Franklin Square Art Gallery, and Red Springs Art Space, where they’ve earned her numerous awards and honorable mentions, particularly for her acrylic and collage creations.

Beyond her artistic endeavors, Fanelli’s commitment to social causes is evidenced by her role as a board member of a dog rescue. Her hobbies, including beach combing and travel, reflect a passion for exploration and discovery, both of which inform her art. Through her creative vision, Fanelli hopes to foster a shared cultural experience, inviting viewers to engage in thoughtful reflection and open-minded dialogue.

At the heart of Allison Fanelli’s work is a steadfast belief in art as a catalyst for positive change—a means of connecting us in a shared experience that transcends our differences and enriches our understanding of the world.
