October 3 – December 29, 2024 | opening reception: October 3, 5:30 – 7:30 pm
The South Carolina Watermedia Society presents its most competitive exhibition in years. With nearly 180 entries, juror Ken Call meticulously curated a collection of 58 pieces that represent artists from coast to coast. The collection focuses heavily on Southeastern artists, particularly those residing in Georgia, North Carolina and – of course – South Carolina. With works ranging from abstract to stark realism, the breadth of watermedia is expounded, explored and enriched through the South Carolina Watermedia Society’s 47th Annual National Exhibition.
Since 1977, the South Carolina Watermedia Society, the State’s largest visual arts group, has been promoting the artistic and professional interests of its members as well as providing visual arts programs to the public. SCWS seeks to elevate the stature of watermedia and educate the public on its importance as a creative painting medium. The organization promotes the highest aesthetic visual arts standards in order to stimulate the practice and appreciation of the arts.
JUDGE: Ken Call is an award winning artist and a gifted instructor. He has achieved signature status in AWS, NWS, MTWS, MOWS and IWS, along with becoming a TWSA Master in 2017.
