During the school year, Outreach Coordinator Colin Riebe visits area preschools and daycares in both Horry and Georgetown Counties. The goal of this program is to expose children, ages 3-5, to the basic elements of art in hopes that art will become a part of their lives as they grow older. Creating art from a young age is proven to help children develop problem solving abilities, build fine motor skills and promote creativity that will help prepare them for their entry into elementary school. During each month’s visit, Outreach Coordinator Colin Riebe reads a children’s book to the class followed by an art project introducing the children to the basic elements of art: color, shape, texture, line, pattern and space.
The Early Art Education Program is made possible by the Frances P. Bunnelle Foundation, The Newman’s Own Foundation, The Chapin Foundation and PNC, Grow Up Great.
