As a youth, Brant spent untold hours fishing, swimming and crabbing in the warm waters of St. Helena’s Sound near Beaufort, South Carolina. Those early years instilled in him a life-long love of nature and the Low Country.

In 1981, the wonderful perfume of the salt marsh lured him back to the coast as he and his family moved to Surfside Beach. Over the next several decades, Brant reacquainted himself with those outdoor activities that so thrilled him as a boy.

Several years ago, Brant took up photography as a means to capture his vision of the beautiful natural resources along the Carolina coast. Brant describes himself as a landscape photographer. He strives to include some aspect of nature in all his images. Nature is often beautiful, sometimes cruel, sometimes dark and disturbing, but always honest.
