Dr. Eric Heiden is a retired dentist from Florence, SC, who has been involved with art of photography for over seventy years.  Although it’s strictly a hobby, he has developed quite a reputation among the amateur and professional ranks of the area.

His photographs have been in published in local newspapers, theatrical magazines, dental journals, chamber of commerce brochures, and many other publications.

His works has been exhibited at the Gibbs Museum of Art in Charleston, the Rice Museum in Georgetown, the Burroughs-Chapin Art Museum in Myrtle Beach, and the Florence County Museum.  Currently, his works can be seen locally at the Seacoast Artists Gallery, Brookgreen Gardens, and the Gray Man Gallery.

The artist feels that one can see the world more clearly through the eye of the camera developing the sense of sight into the keenest of the five we possess. His earlier works of art were achieved with a single lens reflex camera on a 35mm format. For certain artistic subjects a Rolliflex 2 ¼ inch format a used.  Digital photography dominates today.
