Sherry is an award winning watercolorist and Signature In Excellence member of the South Carolina Watermedia Society, who resides along the Hammock Coast of Murrells Inlet SC. Her works are both corporately and privately owned throughout the northern hemisphere. Early on, Sherry has taught privately in gallery settings, has done contract work in fabric design, illustration, and furniture design manufacturers. During her 16 years living in Hilton Head, SC, Sherry incorporated her art business, licensing her artwork to gift and housewares manufactures for surface designs nationally. Products included dinnerware, woven blankets, tapestry materials, notecards, fine art prints and a host of others that were sold through companies as Kirklands, SteinMart, Kohl’s, Walmart and many other small business specialty shops nationally. Sherry has done commissioned figure portraits for the NFL, PGA, and has had her landscape artwork grace the cover of Colonial Home Magazine. A second career brought Sherry to teaching visual arts in order to bring her vast experiences in the field to the high school aged youth interested in developing their skills and knowledge of the visual arts. Since retiring after 18 years of teaching, she works daily in her home studio creating watercolors and oil paintings for the galleries and clients she serves. “I have been blessed to serve a good God who has gifted me with a thirsty passion to create and share what and how I see the world visually and emotionally with others. The focus in my work these days is my local surroundings, subject wise. I find beauty in everything coastal related, after all, its where my roots run deep. Technically, I am obsessed with light and shadow,; how they change colors, create textures and create interesting shapes within and around the subject matter. I work to share glimpses of the beauty in the ordinary that may be missed in this fast paced, ever-changing world I live in. |
