DESCRIPTION:Join the Art Museum as we take a trip to ArtFields 2019 in Lake City\, SC. An annual\, nine-day art competition in Lake City\, South Carolina – ArtFields is the largest competition of its kind. ArtFields awards more than $120\,000 in cash prizes to artists from across the Southeast. And\, it’s also infused new energy\, creativity\, and growth into Lake City and its surrounding communities. Space is very limited. Please call the Art Museum at 843.238.2510 for registration and questions. \nRoadtrip to ArtFields in Lake City\, SC\nMonday\, April 29\, 2019 | 8 am – 4 pm\n$75/members | $80/non-members\nThis roadtrip is currently full. \nItinerary\n8:15 a.m. Bus leaves Art Museum.\n10:15 a.m. Arrive in Lake City. Our first stop will be the Lake City Library where Natalie Daise’s painting is on view.  Natalie will talk to us about her painting and the ArtFields Process.\n10:45 a.m. Walk/bus to Tiffany Thomas’ studio/artist residence at 119 Williamsburg Avenue.  Tiffany is a ceramicist and an artist-in-residence in Lake City.\n11:30 a.m. Bus to downtown to register and experience ArtFields.\n12:30 p.m. Meet for lunch at The Inn at Crossroads\, 128 W. Main Street. DESCRIPTION:opening reception and awards ceremony for Horry-Georgetown County High Schools 19th Annual Juried Art Exhibition\nSunday\, April 28\, 2019 | 1 – 3 pm\nawards ceremony 1:30 pm\nFREE \nHorry-Georgetown County High Schools 19th Annual Juried Art Exhibition | April 23 – May 26\, 2019\nVisit our Exhibitions page for more information.\nA diverse array of media as well as artistic styles fills the second-floor galleries with color\, life and originality — an extraordinary opportunity for area high school art students to gain experience in the actual process of having their artwork exhibited in a professional setting. \nThis year\, professional photographer and educator Talbot Easton Selby of Conway\, SC\, will judge the art. Selby\, who exhibited at the Art Museum in 2018\, received his BFA from Delta State University in 2003 and his MFA from Clemson University in 2006. He has exhibited his photographs in group and solo shows both nationally and internationally. Selby’s work has been published in Delta Magazine\, Metropolis Magazine and Canadian Art magazine. He is also the 2008 recipient of the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters Special Achievement Award for Photography. Currently\, Selby resides in Conway\, SC\, where he is an Associate Professor of Art and Department Chair for the Department of Visual Art at Coastal Carolina University. \nSelby will judge both two-dimensional and three-dimensional works\, each category receiving a first\, second and third place ribbon\, as well as a Best in Show and eight honorable mentions. At the conclusion of the exhibition\, a People’s Choice award will be presented to our visitors’ favorite work of art. All ribbons are accompanied by a cash award.
