Walk in and look up to the two-story atrium framed by a pair of curving stairways leading to a second-floor gallery. The soaring living room features a floor-to-ceiling rock fireplace and a curving wall of glass giving panoramic views of the pool\, patio and lushly landscaped back yard. For the food-and-wine lover\, the kitchen features a wine cellar and two pantries plus a butler’s pantry. With the home’s young\, active family in mind\, there’s a pool/patio area with an indoor kids’ playground that’s fully screened. For older (i.e.\, adult) kids\, a second-floor media room features eight reclining\, movie-style chairs and full-surround sound. \nThe Pettus Home\, 5102 N. Ocean Boulevard\nThis nearly-5\,000-square-foot oceanfront home on Myrtle Beach’s “Golden Mile” features unobstructed ocean views from both indoors and out\, from its floor-to-ceiling windows and soaring bleached-maple ceilings that seem to blend into the sky\, to the wide porches and poolside patio. The home has six bedrooms (three of them master suites) and six baths inside\, plus a half-bath at poolside — a temperature-controlled saline infinity pool.  Its great room contains a gas-fired fireplace\, faced with white-painted tabby stone; patio doors open and close via remote control and there is a three-story elevator to move easily from floor to floor. \nThe Riley Home\, 4093 Coyledom Ct.\, Plantation Pointe\nThis newly renovated 5\,000-square-foot French chateau-style home is light\, bright — and has a few secrets. See if you can find the concealed walk-in pantry and TV “closet” in the beautifully paneled kitchen; or the secret passageway from the second-floor media room to the upstairs guest rooms. Don’t miss the oversized panel doors with curved details; the luxurious master bath with a “rain” shower (and three shower heads); and the huge master closet with floor-to-ceiling shoe racks. And once you see the cozy sitting room with fireplace\, you may never want to leave. \nThe Skelley Home\, 6500 N. Ocean Boulevard \nOf course you’ll notice the ocean views from nearly every room of this spacious (5\,800 square foot) home; the inviting infinity pool on the oceanfront terrace; the soaring 10-foot ceilings; and the generous use of marble (including the exotic Calacatta Gold marble used in the kitchen). Take a long\, lingering look at the wide-plank\, oil-rubbed hickory floors; the glass-and-bronze stair railings and dark-stained hickory ceiling beams; the kitchen’s quartz countertops and commercial-grade appliances; the oyster-shell ceiling in the master suite; the self-irrigating planters; and the home’s many elegant European fixtures. Don’t miss the petite dining-room chandelier whose crystal panes shine like prisms. \nThe Thompson Home\, 9294 Bellasera Cir.\, Grande Dunes \nThis 4\,000-square-foot Tuscan-style home features three luxurious bedrooms\, three and a half baths – and an aptly named “Club Room” complete with pool table\, plush velvet curtains\, leather seating\, faux-alligator wall covering and a full-sized bar. Note the clever mirrored\, arched hallway niches that visually expand the space\, the elegant floor tiles and fireplace surrounds. Corner sliding doors disappear into the walls as they open from the family room to the inviting\, fully-screened pool/patio area\, bringing the outdoor experience inside. \nThe Warren Home\, 5103 N. Ocean Boulevard \nThis modestly-sized and recently remodeled home has history as well as charm: it was the former home of a prominent Myrtle Beach physician who had his office in a lower-level suite. The owners transformed original low ceilings to a soaring two-story atrium-like space in the living room with high\, airy windows\, custom-carved\, white wood paneling\, a dramatic black-painted brick fireplace and a partial rock wall. Check out the master suite’s custom-built wardrobe doors\, a slide-away glass pocket door closing off the bathroom and the variable-size-tile shower. The back deck features a full-size sofa swing on ropes\, the perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon. \n\n  \nTicket Locations\nAdvance tickets $45\n($50 day of tour) at these locations when available: \nMyrtle Beach\nThe Art Museum\n3100 S. SUMMARY:Opening Reception for Phil La Borie | Apparent Realities
DESCRIPTION:opening reception for Phil La Borie | Apparent Realities\nTuesday\, March 6\, 2018 | 5:30 – 7:30 pm\nGallery Talk 6 pm\nFree \nPhil La Borie | Apparent Realities\nVisit our Exhibitions page for more information.\nGarden City writer and illustrator Phil La Borie first became interested in apparent realities years ago when he learned of an 18th-century argument between Irish philosopher Bishop George Berkeley (1685 – 1783) and English writer Dr. Samuel Johnson (1709 – 1784). Berkeley held that reality was something that existed only in our minds\, while Johnson argued that all human knowledge is based on experience. Regardless of what side of the argument one agrees with\, La Borie recognizes that there are interesting and humorous opportunities for artistic expression to illustrate this and like controversies. After 50 years of art-making\, La Borie continually returns to this fundamental argument about the nature of reality and how that translates into art. This exhibition consists of hand-drawn illustrations of apparent contradictions and confusing phenomena that will make you think and\, hopefully\, laugh! \nJoin us for the opening reception on Tuesday\, March 6\, 2018 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. Gallery Talk at 6 pm. Free admission.

SUMMARY:Artist-Led Tour of William H. Miller | What You See Is What You Get
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an artist-led tour of William H. Miller | What You See Is What You Get on Sunday\, March 4\, 2018 at 2 pm. This tour is FREE\, no reservations necessary. \nMiller will lead an additional tour before the close of the exhibition on Wednesday\, April 4\, 2018 | Time 5:30 pm \nWilliam H. Miller | What You See Is What You Get\nVisit our Exhibitions page for more information about this exhibition. \nWilliam H. Miller is a professional\, full-time artist and owner of William H. Miller Studios & Fine Art in Myrtle Beach. The exhibition\, What You See Is What You Get\, showcases a body of work examining the artist’s struggle to successfully actualize two art media: traditional painting and digital painting. In each\, the process of mark-making is the same. This is Miller’s playground—painting\, digital art and the space in between. Just as he was finding his way as a classically-trained artist\, so too was Miller introduced to early computer-graphic technology. Ergo\, his technical skill and artistic vision developed simultaneously\, allowing Miller to explore abstraction through the synergy between traditional and digital painting techniques. Miller remarks that he paints abstracts “to communicate complex themes and emotions…meant to stir a viewer’s visual mind—activating\, adding to and remixing notions of imagery and meaning.” And “the creation of an abstract work is incomplete until the viewer brings his own experiences and perceptions into the process.” The Art Museum and William H. Miller invite you\, the viewer\, to experience the bold\, colorful and dynamic abstractions in both digital and traditional paint media\, thereby helping to complete the paintings with your own responses and impressions.

SUMMARY:Artist-Led Tour of Steven Bleicher | The Kings Highway
DESCRIPTION:Artist-led tour of Steven Bleicher | The Kings Highway\nThursday\, March 1\, 2018 | 2 pm\nFree \nAdditional tours:\nSunday\, March 18\, 2018 | 2 pm\nThursday\, April 19\, 2018 | 2 pm \nSteven Bleicher | The Kings Highway\nVisit our Exhibitions page for more information about this exhibition.\n“The Kings Highway is not just a place; it is a state of mind.” – Steven Bleicher \nCoastal Carolina University professor Steven Bleicher deals with the theme of Americana and the open road in his art. It is about being on the move. Migration is at the heart and soul of our American psyche\, culture and history. It is influenced by the iconic coastal landscape and the roadside attractions both past and present. Bleicher regularly returns to cruise the highway. In this way\, he has also become part of the road’s nomadic residents. \nThe Kings Highway was the first trans highway and can thus be considered the “father” of all roads. It lines the entire eastern coast of the United States from Florida to Maine\, linking together many of the different paths or segments originally started by the native Americans then adapted and added to by the Spanish and English. It was more formally set in stone with the dawning of a new nation\, The United States of America. George Washington\, as part of his inaugural trip to view the holdings\, or states\, of this new country\, traveled its southern route through the Carolinas to Georgia. The old roads have a rich history and are celebrations of the American zeal for exploration\, expansion and travel. This exhibition will cover elements of the southern portion of the road\, including parts of Florida\, Georgia\, North and South Carolina. \nBleicher’s photorealistic graphite renderings are developed from site sketches and photographs\, which are evocative of the sense of place and of the local industry. The drawings are combined with maps\, a metaphor for the journey\, and found objects from the area to form a complex layering of narrative imagery within a discreet\, unified space.
