The Art Museum’s Education Coordinator
FULL TIME, 40 hours per week; Tuesday through Saturday
Ensure the Art Museum’s mission is being delivered to diverse audiences through the development and delivery of quality education programs.
Job Responsibilities include:
- Design, develop and implement programs/classes for the Art Museum’s KidsArt Program which offers monthly Saturday classes for children 5-7 years-of-age, 8-12 years-of-age (two classes per month) and one program per month for teens (13-18); these programs are offered September through April; classes designed around Museum exhibitions;
- Design, develop and implement the Art Museum’s Summer KidsArt Program (June through August) which includes three-day summer camps for children 5-7 years-of-age and 8-12 years-of-age, as well as workshop for community groups and organizations – designed around the Museum’s summer exhibitions;
- Schedule class participation using the Acuity scheduling program;
- Coordinate monthly art classes for area veterans groups and design monthly workshops for PRIDE Family groups;
- Schedule and lead field trips as requested;
- Lead public tours as requested;
- Order supplies for all KidsArt classes;
- Work with Early Art Education/Community Outreach Coordinator to design monthly workshops for offsite programs at area libraries and organizations;
- Assist Art Museum Curator with annual Horry-Georgetown County Juried High School Exhibition (March/April);
- Keep KidsArt mailing list up-to-date;
- Coordinate with CCU and internship program – responsible for following guidelines and assignments for interns to receive credit and complete end-of-semester evaluations;
- Participate in ArtFields, Jr. by designing and coordinating a project for the event;
- Edit (in Adobe Illustrator) KidsArt flyers, brochures and other marketing materials;
- Work with Museum staff on creating virtual learning videos;
- Participate in Career Days, Fine Art Days and other events and festivals on behalf of the Art Museum at schools and other organizations;
- Assist with creating social media posts for Education Department;
- Help to maintain Museum’s website Learn page;
- Assist with Museum special events/family days;
- Generate monthly and other pertinent reports;
- Design and lead specifically-designed art classes if requested.
Preferred Qualifications:
- College degree in Studio Art/Art Education/Arts Administration or equivalent experience;
- Teaching experience utilizing effective classroom management skills;
- Experience with design and facilitation of programs for young audiences;
- Ability to communicate audibly and clearly in informal classroom settings and quickly asses success of teaching techniques and able to keep groups focused and attentive;
- Excellent verbal and writing communication skills;
- Ability to prioritize and work in a timely and efficient manner;
- Must be able to travel to off-site program locations and transport teaching materials as needed;
- Adapts and quickly responds to changes in the workplace;
- Participates effectively in team environment with special attention to communication, budget, deadlines and priorities;
- Familiarity with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, scheduling and graphics programs
- Ability and desire to work with the diverse populations and communities that the Art Museum serves.

Hours and Work Schedule:
This is an exempt salaried position requiring availability during weekdays with occasional weekend, evening and holiday work. The Education Coordinator position is exempt from the Fair Labors Standards Act and will not receive overtime pay for all hours worked in excess of a forty in seven-day work week.
