Jef Sturm was a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art where he received his degree in graphic design and fine art. He then spent most of his lifetime drawing, painting and studying landscape-painting theories. He demonstrated, exhibited and sold his work at Brookgreen Gardens in Pawleys Island, The Seacoast Artists Guild in Myrtle Beach, The Gray Man Gallery in Pawleys Island, The Georgetown County Museum and The Georgetown Art Gallery in South Carolina. Working from his interpretations of altered and revised photographic compositions, Jef’s approach to painting had always been to capture the quality of light as it exists in a moment.
In addition to teaching privately, Jef taught life drawing and painting for The Seacoast Artists Guild and was a member of the Waccamaw Neck Arts Alliance (WNAA). |
