Maura Kenny

Maura Kenny, painter and art educator has lived and practiced most of her career while living in Pawleys Island, SC. Her paintings over the last ten years have been almost exclusively done in watercolor and mixed media and she has been investigating the concept of ‘place’ throughout her painting career. The Low Country of South Carolina her home now for over forty-four years has been highlighted often in her repertoire of paintings and it continues to be an inspiration. Figurative, portrait and botanical paintings are also found in her broad portfolio of subject matter and content.

Maura retired from the Department of Visual Arts at Coastal Carolina University in 2018 as Distinguished Professor Emeritus where she taught Painting, Drawing and Art Education for 34 years. Maura’s paintings have been juried into many regional, national and international exhibitions winning recognition at all of these levels.
