Local Stories Matter: Rediscovering Our Region with The Athenaeum Press

September 21, 2023 – December 31, 2023 | opening reception (FREE): Tue., SEP. 26, 5:30 – 7:30 pm

Discover the hidden stories of our region through the lens of The Athenaeum Press at Coastal Carolina University. Over the last ten years, collaborative teams of university students and faculty have worked with a wide variety of local communities in telling stories that richen our understanding of the South. The topics range from Gullah Geechee spirituals to chicken bog to pirates. Experience the interactive and multimedia storytelling methods of each project, including augmented/virtual reality, musical albums and documentaries. The exhibition will also feature the wide-reaching impact of our collaborations. Come celebrate a decade of regional storytelling by visiting the exhibition and participating in programming both inside and outside of the Museum with our community collaborators.
