Pawleys Island-SC watermedia artist Maura H. Kenny spends a lot of time on the water, cruising and painting the local river system with her riverguide husband, Paul. Where the Rivers Flow is an exhibition of 35 paintings depicting the views, flora, fauna, people and architecture found along the great Pee Dee and Waccamaw Rivers, including their bays, creeks, inlets and islands. Kenny captures the stunning beauty and bliss of natural Lowcountry life in her sweeping views of inlets at low tide as pickers gather oysters; dramatic, stormy cloudscapes over rippled, glass-like water; quiet, wildlife impressions of alligators resting in the marsh and majestic riverside architecture that tells stories of our coast’s development and past-times. Where the Rivers Flow is a peek into Kenny’s viewfinder, as she navigates our waters looking for the next significant place in time to paint.
