Sara Farrington is a Myrtle Beach native living and working in the Raleigh, NC, area. She attained a MFA in Studio Art from the University of North Carolina (2018) and MAT in Art Education from Coastal Carolina University (2010). Her series, Model Home, is a modular, site-responsive sculptural installation of staged domestic spaces. Her to-scale installation components, which include furniture, light switches, electrical outlets, rugs, picture frames, lamps and even plants, are all created using heavyweight drawing paper. Farrington spends countless hours designing, cutting, folding, shaping and constructing these unbelievably real looking spaces that leave color, pattern and sometimes texture up to the viewer. Each venue provides a new atmosphere for Model Home, ergo, new spaces call for new designs. Naturally, our oceanside Reception Gallery will be transformed into a Lowcountry porch.
